When Do We Grow and Harvest Coffee?
In the Galapagos, coffee is a year-round passion. Here’s a glimpse into our coffee calendar:
January ~ February:
Preparing seedbeds and germination, nurturing the first steps of growth.
February ~ July:
Caring for young plants in nurseries, ensuring they grow strong and healthy.
March ~ April:
Revitalizing coffee plantations through pruning and renewal to maintain their vitality.
July ~ August:
Replanting coffee and managing plantations to support sustainable growth.
October ~ December:
The peak of our efforts—harvest and post-harvest activities, where we bring out the best in every coffee bean.

“I love coffee”
Galapagos has always been a part of my fondest memories. Thanks to the hard work and dedication of my parents, my sisters and I were able to pursue a university education. Today, I honour their efforts by applying my knowledge and promoting sustainable practices. My goal is to ensure that fieldwork is recognized not just economically, but also socially and environmentally.

“This is my story.”
I was born in the province of Manabí and came to the Galapagos Islands at the age of 19. It was a whole new world for me—so different from what I knew. While we have many more conveniences now, life in the countryside remains something truly unique.

Jorge Larrea
“Hello, this is my story.”
I’m originally from the province of Tungurahua. When I first arrived in the Galapagos, I never imagined I would stay here for so long (laughs) or witness so many changes. I purchased the farm on October 10, 1978, and since then, it’s been a step-by-step journey. We continue to work hard to make it better with every passing year.
